Publication Design (RETREAT) - RMIT student work, 2020

The purpose of this publication is to present an archive of responses and experiences relating to interiors and the environments we create for ourselves in our homes. These themes have become especially important over the past year as communities have been forced into lockdown; in these conditions the spaces in which we live have come to dominate our everyday existence.

This archive explores a varied collection of responses to these personal spaces, drawing on content from before the Pandemic and during Lockdown. Images, poems, articles and paintings each offer an insight into an interior world which someone has built for themselves, incorporating both the world of high art and of daily online blogs. Giving glimpses into routines, patterns, thoughts and worries that these environments often play host to, contrasting against each other exposing the isolation, boredom, comfort and moments of connection that these spaces may offer.
